Blue Ha Diving Center was born from an idea in January 2000, between two divers who met in Zanzibar, Africa. One was a Dutchman ( Rick Van Dijk) doing his P.A.D.I. Divemaster course with a Zimbabwean (Doug Campbell-Smith) Master Scuba Diver Trainer. They decided that they wanted to have their own diving centre somewhere that offered safe, friendly and fantastic diving in a place that was always warm. After a lot of investigation and nearly 2 years of studying we decided on Mahahual, Quintana Roo State, Mexico.

The dive centre is located at Km. 2.7, near the fisherman’s pier in the centre of Mahahual. In January 2002 we finished the construction of the dive centre. The centre is a P.A.D.I. Resort Centre, offering diving and snorkelling for all levels of divers, and their friends and family. Courses offered are from Discover Scuba Diving thru to Divemaster with Specialities courses in Deep, Wreck, Night, Drift, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Project Aware. We cater for the experienced to less experienced divers. Normally we carry out 2 tank dives in the morning, and a one tank dive in the afternoon. Night dives are planned 2 times a week when possible.

The dive centre is equipped for 10 divers, with Scubapro R190 regulators with Octopus and gauges, Scubapro B.C.D.’s in all sizes, 12 litre and 10 litre steel cylinders and wetsuits in full piece and shorties. All the equipment is new, (2002), and is inspected regularly. We have a 7.5 meter Bertram boat, specially designed for divers, equipped with 2 x 115 Hp 4 stroke Mercury engines, 2 inboard fuel tanks with a capacity of 400 litres of fuel, GPS, Echo Sounder, VHF radio, Oxygen, first aid kit, life jackets, ladder and place for 14 persons (10 divers, 2 Dive masters, 1 assistant and Captain). The boat is captained by a local Captain, himself a very experienced diver (Rescue Diver), who is very familiar with the waters in this area.

There is a beautiful beach in front of the centre for those non-divers to relax upon. After the dive you can relax here with a cold drink and discuss the days diving. We have books to help you identify the marine life you have seen, and record this in your logbooks.

Scuba Diver to Open Water Diver (Minimum age 10 years old - duration 2.1/2 days) Continuation to Open Water Diver having successfully completed the Scuba Diver Course.
